1. Executive Overview — Who is Yanfei in Genshin Impact?

Yanfei, universally sought after by merchants, diplomats, and citizens across Chihu Rock and Yujing Terrace as Liyue Harbor's premier Legal Adviser, is a half-Illuminated Beast who knows every clause, amendment, and historical precedent of Liyue's legal codex by heart. Born during a peaceful era long after the Archon War to a Xiezhi adeptus father and a mortal merchant mother, Yanfei is one of the very few adepti descendants in Liyue who is not bound by an ancient martial contract to Rex Lapis—choosing instead to uphold justice and harmony through the rule of civil law.

Wielding a Pyro Catalyst and her father's ancient Steelyard of Justice scales, Yanfei stamps her foes with blazing Scarlet Seals that reduce her Stamina costs and call down fiery legal verdicts from above. On this dedicated page, cosplayers, 3D modelers, and Genshin Impact lore scholars can inspect the official Yanfei 3D model in real time while exploring her half-Xiezhi biological traits (her antlers and scales), her mentorship of Shinobu, her role in the Serenitea Pot and Chasm quests, and her Charged Attack Pyro combat mechanics.

02 · SPECIES, LINEAGE & ONTOLOGY · 种族与血脉考据

Yanfei’s Species, Heritage & Biological Nature

From a biological and mythological standpoint, Yanfei is a half-human, half-Illuminated Beast whose paternal lineage traces directly to the Xiezhi—the legendary horned beast of Chinese mythology symbolized by her constellation, Bestia Iustitia, which possesses the innate supernatural wisdom to distinguish truth from falsehood and guilt from innocence. Unlike her fellow half-adeptus Ganyu, who was born thousands of years ago and signed a formal contract with Rex Lapis to serve Liyue forever, Yanfei was born in an era of peace after the Archon War had already ended, leaving her completely free of any divine contract.

Physically, Yanfei's Xiezhi bloodline manifests prominently on her body: two pale, cream-colored antler-like horns curve backward from beneath the sides of her coral-pink hair at the base of her skull, while pale pinkish-white adeptal scales adorn her hips, wrists, and collarbones. Because of her half-adeptus constitution, Yanfei enjoys a vastly extended lifespan and robust vitality compared to ordinary mortals, though she still requires regular sleep and savors mortal delicacies—especially Crab Roe Tofu—with all the enthusiasm of a young Liyue citizen.

03 · HISTORICAL BACKGROUND & ORIGINS · 身世背景与过往历史

The Origins and Historical Journey of Yanfei

Growing up in a loving household in Liyue Harbor, Yanfei was raised gently by her Xiezhi adeptus father and her mortal mother without the heavy burden of adeptal asceticism. When Yanfei reached adulthood, her parents decided to embark on a romantic, open-ended journey around the world together, leaving their daughter in the care of their dear friend Madame Ping (Streetward Rambler) and gifting Yanfei two priceless heirlooms: a copy of the Legal Codex of Liyue and an ancient adeptal balance scale originally bestowed upon her father by Rex Lapis himself.

Understanding that her father's balance scale could measure the exact value and karmic weight of all things in Teyvat, young Yanfei realized that true fairness in a bustling port city could only be preserved if someone mastered the mortal laws that Rex Lapis and the Liyue Qixing enacted every year. Pouring tens of thousands of hours into memorizing the civil, commercial, maritime, and criminal statutes of Liyue—as well as the laws of Mondstadt, Inazuma, Sumeru, and Fontaine—Yanfei established herself as Liyue Harbor's top independent legal consultant.

Remarkably, Yanfei's exhaustive legal acumen even keeps Tianquan Ningguang on her toes: whenever Yanfei discovers an unintended loophole in a newly drafted trade law and uses it to win a client's arbitration case fairly, Ningguang uses Yanfei's arguments as a blueprint to patch Liyue's legal code the very next month—saving Ningguang weeks of legislative review. On the day Yanfei resolved a heartbreaking dispute by weighing both the letter of the law and human compassion on her father's scales, her Pyro Vision manifested.

04 · PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE & BONDS · 性格特征、行事准则与人际关系

Yanfei’s Personality, Ideals, and Relationships in Teyvat

In both the courtroom and everyday conversation, Yanfei is lively, articulate, quick-witted, and refreshingly pragmatic. Unlike rigid bureaucrats who view the law as an inflexible hammer to punish people, Yanfei believes that the ultimate purpose of law is to protect peace and mutual trust so everyone can live happily. Whenever she meets the Traveler or takes on a complex case, her rapid-fire legal monologue—complete with numbered sub-clauses and dramatic finger-pointing—shows just how deeply she loves her craft.

Within Liyue Harbor, Yanfei regards Madame Ping as a cherished grandmother figure, visiting her at Yujing Terrace to brew tea and helping look after her younger fellow adeptal junior, Yaoyao. With Ganyu and Ningguang, Yanfei maintains a relationship of mutual professional admiration, frequently consulting on cross-border trade treaties or adeptal property laws. Curiously, Yanfei is slightly wary around Zhongli: although she does not initially state outright that he is Rex Lapis, her Xiezhi instincts tell her that Zhongli's encyclopedic knowledge of ancient contracts belongs to someone who stood beside her father millennia ago.

Beyond Liyue's borders, Yanfei is the cherished academic mentor (senpai) of Kuki Shinobu from Inazuma; when Shinobu studied law in Liyue Harbor, Yanfei tutored her through every legal certification exam, and the two later reunited inside The Chasm. Yanfei also gets along well with Yelan (despite their differing views on operating outside the law) and rescued Eula during a smuggling investigation at Liyue's docks, sparking a warm pen-pal friendship between Liyue's top lawyer and Mondstadt's Spindrift Knight.

05 · COMBAT ABILITIES & ELEMENTAL MASTERY · 战斗能力、技能机制与神之眼权能

Yanfei’s Combat Capabilities, Elemental Authority & Kit Breakdown

In both canon lore and battlefield gameplay, Yanfei is a rhythmic Pyro Catalyst main DPS (and Constellation 4 shielder) whose combat loop revolves around stacking Scarlet Seals through Normal Attacks, Elemental Skills, and Elemental Bursts before dropping a massive, stamina-free Pyro Charged Attack.

Normal & Charged Attack Choreography

Through Seal of Approval, Yanfei fires up to three consecutive fireballs that deal Pyro damage. Every Normal Attack that successfully strikes an enemy grants Yanfei one Scarlet Seal (up to a maximum of three by default, or four at Constellation 6); each active Scarlet Seal reduces Yanfei's Stamina consumption by 15% (25% at C1). When Yanfei executes a Charged Attack, she consumes all active Scarlet Seals to drop a giant flaming legal stamp in front of her, dealing amplified AoE Pyro damage with broader range for each Seal consumed.

Elemental Skill & Tactical Deployment

Casting her Elemental Skill, Signed Edict, summons blistering flames that erupt at the target enemy's position, dealing AoE Pyro damage and immediately granting Yanfei the maximum number of Scarlet Seals if the skill hits an opponent.

Elemental Burst & Supreme Manifestation

When unleashing her Elemental Burst, Done Deal, Yanfei triggers a spray of intense flames that rush at nearby opponents for AoE Pyro damage, immediately grants her the maximum number of Scarlet Seals, and bestows the Brilliance effect for 15 seconds. While Brilliance is active, Yanfei automatically gains one Scarlet Seal every second and her Charged Attack damage increases significantly (while Constellation 4 also creates a 45% Max HP Pyro shield).

Lore Strength, Passives & Signature Synergy

Through her passive talents Proviso and Blazing Eye, each Scarlet Seal consumed by a Charged Attack increases Yanfei's Pyro DMG Bonus by 5% for 6 seconds, and whenever Yanfei's Charged Attack scores a CRIT hit, it calls down an additional instance of AoE Pyro damage equal to 80% of her ATK (which has no ICD). Meanwhile, Encyclopedic Expertise displays Liyue local specialties on the mini-map.
