1. Executive Overview — Who is Beidou in Genshin Impact?

Beidou, celebrated across every tavern and dock in Liyue Harbor as the Uncrowned Lord of the Ocean, is the fearless captain of The Crux—an armed mercantile fleet anchored off Guyun Stone Forest. Wielding a heavy claymore and an Electro Vision earned through one of the most legendary feats of mortal strength in Teyvat's history, Beidou commands unwavering loyalty from her sailors and deep respect from merchants and Qixing officials alike. Whether navigating raging typhoons across Inazuma's thunder-shrouded blockade or sharing a cask of strong wine with dockworkers, Beidou embodies unbridled maritime freedom.

Long before receiving divine favor from Celestia, Beidou carved her name into legend by battling the colossal sea leviathan Haishan for four days and nights before severing its head with a single mortal swing. On this dedicated page, cosplayers, 3D digital artists, and Genshin Impact lore researchers can inspect the official Beidou 3D model in real time while reading a comprehensive analysis of her humble fishing-village origins, her complex partnership with Tianquan Ningguang, her Tidecaller counter-slash mechanics, and her role in smuggling the Traveler into Inazuma.

02 · SPECIES, LINEAGE & ONTOLOGY · 种族与血脉考据

Beidou’s Species, Heritage & Biological Nature

Within the world of Genshin Impact, Beidou is a completely mortal human of Liyue who possesses neither adeptal ancestry nor divine enhancement prior to earning her Vision. Her status as a mortal human makes her slaying of the ancient sea monster Haishan all the more extraordinary: she proved that disciplined human grit, maritime intuition, and sheer physical endurance can rival the might of ancient oceanic beasts that even gods once contended with.

Her constellation, Victor Mare (meaning 'Conqueror of the Sea'), immortalizes her triumph over the deep waters and the monsters that lurk beneath Guyun Stone Forest. Her iconic red eyepatch over her left eye is not merely a result of battle injury, but also a practical seafaring tool used by veteran captains to maintain night vision when transitioning between sunlit decks and pitch-black ship cabins below.

03 · HISTORICAL BACKGROUND & ORIGINS · 身世背景与过往历史

The Origins and Historical Journey of Beidou

The early childhood of Beidou was steeped in poverty, superstition, and hardship. Born into a tiny, destitute fishing village along Liyue's coast, she lost her parents at a young age and was taken in by the old village chief. However, when the village chief fell ill and died and the local fish catches dried up, the superstitious villagers branded the young orphan a 'cursed child of misfortune' who brought ruin to everyone around her, driving her out of the settlement with stones and curses.

Surviving on the streets and docks of Liyue Harbor through sheer tenacity, Beidou took work as a deckhand and stevedore, earning the respect of weathered sailors through her fearlessness and unmatched strength. Rising steadily through the ranks until she commanded her own flagship, The Alcor, and the wider Crux Fleet, Beidou resolved to conquer the terror of the seas: Haishan, a multi-headed dragon-like leviathan that had terrorized Liyue's sailors for generations.

After numerous voyages tracking the beast, Beidou and her crew cornered Haishan in a ferocious storm. For four days and four nights without sleep or food, Beidou fought the leviathan from the deck of The Alcor while tethered ropes held the monster at bay. At the break of twilight on the fourth day, before she even possessed a Vision, Beidou leaped into the air and cleaved Haishan's skull in two with a single thunderous claymore strike—whereupon the heavens roared with purple lightning and an Electro Vision descended into her hand.

04 · PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE & BONDS · 性格特征、行事准则与人际关系

Beidou’s Personality, Ideals, and Relationships in Teyvat

Forthright, boisterous, and fiercely protective of her crew, Beidou treats everyone from humble fishermen to the Liyue Qixing as equals. She despises pretentious schemes and cold bureaucracy, preferring to settle disputes over an arm-wrestling match, a game of chess, or a bowl of sizzling stir-fried Mora meat. Whenever The Crux drops anchor in Liyue Harbor, children and elderly townsfolk flock to the docks to greet Sister Beidou, knowing she always brings back exotic tales and generous gifts.

Her most dynamic relationship is her ongoing push-and-pull partnership with Ningguang, the Tianquan of the Liyue Qixing. In public, Ningguang complains incessantly about Beidou violating maritime tariffs and harbor regulations, slapping The Crux with hefty fines; in private, however, Ningguang relies on Beidou to handle sensitive off-the-books missions that the Qixing cannot officially touch, and the two frequently play board games aboard the Jade Chamber or The Alcor.

Among her crew and companions, Beidou took in the fugitive Inazuman samurai Kaedehara Kazuha after he fled the Vision Hunt Decree, treating him like a younger brother. She is also a close friend of the chef Xiangling—frequently supplying Wanmin Restaurant with rare deep-sea ingredients—and maintains a warm rapport with Xinyan and Ganyu.

05 · COMBAT ABILITIES & ELEMENTAL MASTERY · 战斗能力、技能机制与神之眼权能

Beidou’s Combat Capabilities, Elemental Authority & Kit Breakdown

In both canon lore and gameplay mechanics, Beidou is the premier parry-and-counter specialist of Genshin Impact, combining heavy claymore swings with roaring Electro discharges that chain between multiple enemies. Her combat style rewards fearless timing, absorbing enemy blows to unleash retaliatory thunderbolts.

Normal & Charged Attack Choreography

Through Oceanborne, Beidou executes up to five powerful claymore slashes, kicking the spine of her heavy blade to build momentum and cleave through shielded adversaries.

Elemental Skill & Tactical Deployment

Her signature Elemental Skill, Tidecaller, embodies her legendary duel against Haishan. Tapping the skill swings her blade in a swift Electro arc, while holding it raises her claymore as an Electro-infused shield that absorbs damage based on her Max HP. Releasing the skill—or absorbing two hits while holding—unleashes a devastating retaliatory roar of Electro energy that scales up to 320% bonus damage.

Elemental Burst & Supreme Manifestation

When unleashing her Elemental Burst, Stormbreaker, Beidou recalls her slaying of the great beast Haishan to surround the active character with a Thunderbeast's Targe. For 15 seconds, the Targe reduces incoming damage, increases resistance to interruption, and triggers arcing lightning discharges that jump between nearby enemies whenever the active character lands Normal or Charged Attacks.

Lore Strength, Passives & Signature Synergy

Through her passive talents Retribution and Lightning Storm, executing Tidecaller at the exact moment Beidou is struck automatically triggers its maximum damage counterattack, which in turn boosts her Normal and Charged Attack DMG and attack speed by 15% for 10 seconds. Her utility passive Conqueror of Tides reduces swimming Stamina consumption for the party by 20%.
